Paper title: An innovative infrastructure for inter-working between dissimilar edm solutions
Authors: Rezgui Y, Cooper G, Vakola M
Summary: The paper gives an overview of the European Esprit Condor project(ESPRIT 23105). The project aims at providing a large range of industrialareas, including the Construction industry, with an innovative infrastructurefor distributing information and achieving co-operative work betweenheterogeneous Electronic Document Management (EDM) legacy systems, while ensuring document consistency throughout ongoing projects. Thepaper, first, presents the proposed technical solution, and gives acomprehensive description of the Application Programming Interfacesupporting the proposed inter-working and semantic linking services. Thepaper also includes a brief description of the modelling infrastructuresupporting the proposed Condor system. Finally, a demonstrator involvingthe AutoCAD application, along with the Electronic DocumentManagement systems used within the project, is presented. The latterdemonstrates the Condor semantic-linking services. The project is ongoingand supported by a user interest group, which involves representatives froma variety of non-construction industry companies all over Europe.
